Our Story
In 2022, after some time living and working in Los Angeles, Marilize set out to build a bold and colourful creative space that offered a wide variety of options to photographers and videographers in the winelands. The goal was to establish a fully equipped hub that empowered anybody with a creative vision to bring their wildest ideas to life!
Finally, in January of 2023, we opened our doors to the community of Helderberg and in the last two years have welcomed photographers, videographers, local brands, radio presenters and actors into our space!
We are proud to offer the biggest variety of creative backdrops in Cape Town, with our 210 square meter space presenting amazing opportunities for both small- and large-scale shoots. We host a 12square meter cyclorama, multiple colourful sets and various fabric backdrop options. We also aim to be an accessible space in terms of both equipment and affordability, keeping our rental fees as reasonable as possible!
Our white walls, although popular, are the least interesting thing in our space and we invite you to come and see for yourself! Our space is also used for regular drama classes and, through a natural evolution, has become a space for local brands to plan and create eye catching social marketing campaigns with our guidance!
Meet Marilize
Marilize du Plessis, the founder of Glendower Studios, moved to the winelands in 2015 to study drama at Stellenbosch University. Since graduating with an Honours degree in acting she has worked at numerous commercial radio stations, filmed a variety of TV and film projects, studied and worked abroad, and established several social media platforms for local businesses.
Marilize is a passionate performer and having survived the incredible isolation that many creatives experienced during the Covid19 lockdown, she now throws herself into every possible creative path she can find!
In the mornings you can catch her live on Helderberg FM, presenting the ‘Office Hours’ show, in the afternoons she is creating content for some amazing local clients, and in her spare time she takes on some acting projects to feed her soul.
Marilize is driven by good storytelling and a great cup of coffee and starts every day in pursuit of those two things!
